Sen. Susan Collins is going to Hawaii next week during part of the Senate's two-week Spring recess - but the Maine Republican won't be staying long to enjoy the sights or the weather.
Collins is appearing at a fundraising luncheon Wednesday for GOP Senate candidate Linda Lingle, a former Hawaii governor. The luncheon is at the Sheraton Waikiki and costs $60 per person or $600 for a table for 10, and about 300 people are expected, Collins' office said.
Collins arrives in Hawaii Tuesday night and departs Thursday, according to her office. The only events she is participating in during her time in Hawaii are campaign related. She also may be at a fundraising dinner Wednesday night, according to her office.
Collins, a three-term senator, is not up for reelection until 2014.
