Maine has great lobster shacks? No kidding.
Six Maine establishments made the Best Lobster Shacks in New England list, published in the May/June issue of Yankee Magazine. A story on usatoday.com includes all twelve can't-miss shacks, but the locals are:
Five Islands Lobster Co., Georgetown
Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier, Kittery Point
Thurston's Lobster Pound, Bernard
The Clam Shack, Kennebunkport
Cod End, Tenants Harbor, Maine
Waterman's Beach Lobster, South Thomaston
Mike Urban, author of "Lobster Shacks: A Road-Trip Guide to New England's Best Lobster Joints," compiled the list for the magazine. And while we'd like to think that all the best lobster shacks are right in our backyard, six out of 12 ain't bad.
