Maine Vegan Meetup's Gentle Thanksgiving, an annual potluck dinner featuring an all plant-based menu, will partner with the Cancer Community Center in South Portland for this year's meal. The free event takes place Saturday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 7:30 p.m..
The dinner, which encourages participants to have "turkeys in our hearts, not in our bellies," offers an opportunity to taste new vegan dishes, swap recipes and meet others interested in vegetarian food. Forty-four people have already RSVP'd for the party, and everyone is expected to contribute a dish.
To take part, you need to become a member of the Meeup (which is free) and then RSVP for the event. You can join the Meetup at www.meetup.com/Meatless-Mainers.
The Cancer Community Center is located at 778 Main St., South Portland.
The Maine Vegan Meetup is also hosting a Gentle Thanksgiving in Bucksport. That dinner takes place Saturday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in a private residence.
