Fat Tuesday is tomorrow – Feb. 12 – and WMPG is firing up the celebration with a friendly competition of Cajun materpieces (i.e., tasty recipes from local eateries).
This year's Cajun Cookin' Challenge lineup of competitors include the defending champions of last year – Bayside Bowl. Some of the other participants include:

Gritty's
USM Dining
Great Lost Bear (2nd place last year)
Izzy's Cheesecake and Po Boys & Pickles
Bintliff American Cafe
Pepper Club
The event – in it's 18th year – will be held from noon to 3 p.m. in the Woodbury Campus Center of the USM's Portland Campus.
The event will be broadcast live on WMPG – 90.9 or 104.1 on your radio – and feature Cajun Aces Rob Sylvain performing live at 2 p.m.

Wendy Almeida and her family have a smattering of livestock and a summer garden. After 10 years of her kids being involved in 4-H, she's finally accepted the term "hobby farm" to describe her family's work at sustainable living. These days her morning starts with milking a goat before heading into the office for her day job as an assistant editor for features.
