Joe Appel, Press Herald wine columnist and Rosemont Market's wine guru, has announced two interesting, inexpensive wine tastings in collaboration with Tandem Coffee Roasters. Held at Tandem, 122 Anderson St., the evenings feature plenty of wine, snacks from Rosemont chef Brad Messier and as a finale, coffee drinks.

Each of the following is from 5 to 7 p.m. and costs $27. Tickets are limited. The descriptions below each date are from Joe:

Saturday, Oct. 29:  Wines of Austria
We'll welcome Klaus Wittauer of KWSelection. Austria is producing some of the most exciting wines in the world today, and there are few better guides to its full spectrum than Klaus. We are honored to host him and thrilled to present a variety of wines from his portfolio. We'll taste sparkling, rosé, white and red wines. The food will be in the style of Austrian heurigen: casual tavern food traditionally served at the winery, to accompany the wines.

Thursday, Oct. 24: Slovenia Rising
This is a can't-miss event. We'll present extraordinary wines from Slovenia, with Jean-Michel Morel, winemaker at Wine & Spirits Magazine's 2013 Winery of the Year, Slovenia's Kabaj. Kabaj is redefining wine greatness in northeastern Slovenia's Goriska Brda, with tradtional skin-fermented white wines. We are humbled, grateful, and just super excited to host Jean-Michel Morel.
