Sorry, pastry chefs and baking pros ... this one is for the folks at home.
MaineToday.com has launched its first-ever Holiday Cookie Contest; between now and Nov. 27, amateur bakers can enter their signature holiday cookie recipes for a chance to have their cookies tasted by a panel of local pastry chefs and win prizes.
But not just any cookie you've copied out of a magazine or cookbook. It has to be original (something you've adapted from a published recipe is just fine), and it has to have a back story - a reason why it is significant to you.
How to enter: Submit your recipe, your cookie's story (it can be short) and a photo of the finished cookies via the entry form on MaineToday.com. The deadline is midnight on Nov. 27.
MaineToday and Press Herald staff will choose six finalists, who will bring their cookies to be judged by a panel of pastry chefs — Tara Smith of Standard Baking Co., Alysia Zoidis of East End Cupcakes and Ilma Lopez of Piccolo and Blue Rooster Food Co. — at a special event at Grace Restaurant on Dec. 10. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners and guests at the event will choose a People's Choice winner.
The winning recipes will also be published in the Press Herald and on MaineToday.com.
Entries have already started coming in, so get busy baking!Tweet
