With just four-and-a-half days until Christmas, it's gift-shopping crunch time. But that doesn't mean you just have to grab whatever's handy at the big box, convenience or liquor store to finish up your gift list and fill those stockings.
In case you missed it, Meredith Goad's annual food gift guide features lots of delicious ideas, most of them made in Maine.

Over on MaineToday.com, I've put together six food and drink gifts available at Portland shops. It's part of a big round-up of last minute gift ideas, so before you resort to a gift-wrapped bag of Hershey's Kisses or another tie, take a look.
Meredith Goad has harvested oysters on the Chesapeake Bay, eaten reindeer in Finland and sipped hot chai in the Himalayas. She writes the weekly Soup to Nuts column and enjoys a good cocktail.
