Don’t miss this recent article in The New York Times entitled "Restored Payroll Tax Pinches Those Who Earn the Least."
Starting on January 1, everyone who has a job is sending an additional 2% of his/her paycheck to Washington to help pay for overspending by our elected officials. That’s an extra $1,000 out of your pocket if you earn $50,000 per year.
As the article reports, the working poor are being hardest hit by this 2% “payroll tax” increase. They’re cutting back on what they can spend to put food on the table for their families, because career politicians in Washington refuse to reign in their overspending.
So much for helping the poor and middle class.
