A second ad in support of gay marriage will run for several weeks in August and September, Mainers United for Marriage announced today.
Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, which is based in Boston, paid for the ad, which features Pat and Dan Lawson of Monroe talking about their gay twin sons.
"If my son finds someone that he's in love with and wants to create a bond that's going to last a lifetime, that's marriage in my mind," Dan says. "We have a set of twin boys and marriage matters to both of them."
The first ad funded by GLAD began airing during the Olympics and featured a WW II veteran talking about his lesbian daughter and the importance of allowing her to marry her partner.
Gay-marriage opponents, who are shoring up their base this week in closed meetings with pastors, say they will be launching more public outreach after Labor Day.Tweet
