The Maine Council of Churches and the University of Southern Maine Interfaith Chaplaincy will host a "Civil Discourse on Same Sex Marriage'" at 7 p.m. Thursday at Luther Bonney Hall at the University of Southern Maine.
The event will feature those both for and against allowing the state to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Panelists include the Episcopal Bishop of Maine Rev. Stephen Lane, and Father Joseph Daniels, pastor of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Parish in Waterville.
The purpose of the event is to demonstrate that people of faith can talk to each other in a respectful manner, according to a press release from the Episcopal Diocese of Maine. It is open to the public.
Luther Bonney Hall is located on Bedford Street in Portland.
