One of the best ways to make sure you get your miles in this biking season is to sign up for a few riding events. And to do it with a group of bicycling friends.

One I'm hoping to get a group to participate in is the 11th Annual Women's Ride hosted by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. It's on Sunday, June 3 at 8 a.m. and starts at the L.L. Bean Casco Conference Center in Freeport.
I've never ridden in this event but I've heard nothing but good things about it (and the after-party at Gritty McDuff's). Word is that it's a rolling route through beautiful country on roads with minimal traffic.
Female riders of all ages are welcome and you can choose from distance of five, 15, 25 and 50 miles. Adults who are BCM members pay $35 while non-members tack on an extra $10. Register before May 25 or the fees may go up.
