It's a given that after burning off all those carbs on a grueling, hilly training ride you'll be in search of a a little something to quest that thirst. And the fact is, we all know bikers love their beers.
This weekend a new bike-themed beer is set to be released by Portland' Bunker Brewing. "Coaster" is a Belgium golden ale that Bunker's Chresten Sorensen says is a great summer beer.
Bunker's releasing its latest beverage at the after-party for Space Gallery's Alley Cat race on Saturday. The race rolls at 2 p.m. with the party at the Space venue starting at 8 p.m.
"We've brewed 10 kegs of it," Sorensen says of Coaster, which features a chain cog on its label. "We brew in small batches and if people like it we do more."
Bunker, based in the Bayside section of Portland, has brewed 12 different kinds of beer since the brewery opened in January. You can currently order the company's beers at Local 188, Sonny's, Mama's Crowbar, Local Sprouts, Duckfat and the new LSK in Portland, and at Local Buzz in Cape Elizabeth. Sorensen expects to begin releasing growlers in June.
