It's happened. We've reached the middle of August. Already.
For many that means the riding season is starting to wind down. And although you may be planning to pedal past the time when the leaves have all fallen, your options for benefit, organized rides are waning.
One big one still left on the schedule is the Aug. 25 Ride for Hospice in Brunswick. Choose a 25-, 50- or 100-mile ride, and if there are walkers in the family they can also join in.
The 100-mile route takes cyclists out to Lisbon Falls, Pownal and through Freeport before finishing back in Brunswick. Those on the 50-mile trek will see parts of Bowdoinham, Richmond and Topsham.
The event begin at the gazebo on the mall with registration at 7 a.m. and the 100-mile start at 7:30. Click here to register online. The registration fee is $25 and organizers are requesting $100 in pledges per rider. When you're riding for the care and comfort of those with life-threatening illnesses, or to honor and remember family and friends who have died, that's an amount that should be pretty easy to achieve.
