For 25 years friends, relatives and supporters of Dan Michaud came out every August to participate in the memorial ride named for him. Plenty of people who never met him also pedaled along the routes in and around Brunswick.
Michaud's ride is back for another go-around on Saturday but under a different name.
Now known as the Ride for Hospice, and sponsored by the Maine Hospice Council and Center for End-of-Life Care, the event begins at 7 a.m. on "The Green" in Brunswick with three routes to choose from - 25 miles, 50 miles and 100 miles.
Thegoal is to raise $10,000 for those who require hospice care through registration fees and donations. Registraion is just $25 with pledges of $125 or more. Register here.
Both the 50-mile and 100-mile routes travel the shoeline of Merrymeeting Bay for several miles. Here's the 50-mile map:
