If you're looking for a great goal ride to really get your training going, there's one more reason to choose the Bicycle Coalition of Maine's Lobster Ride and Roll.

Celebrating its 11 anniversary this summer, the July 21 event recently made Bicycling Magazine's list of America's Top Century Rides.

It's some pretty cool recognition for Rockland event that also includes options of 16, 30 and 50 miles in addition to the 100-mile trek. According to info on the BCM website the ride was selected because of the great scenery, the festival atmosphere and the lobster rolls available to all riders at the finish. (And don't forget the signature Lobster Ride socks in either blue or orange.)

This year's ride starts at 8 a.m. at Oceanside High School. The fee to participate is $85 for adults. (You can register here.) All four routes have maps, support services and food and water rest stops. They'll take riders along the coastline, past lighthouses, lobsters boats and quaint Maine homes.

Bicycling Magazine has a readership of more than 2 million. Here's hoping a few of them will give the Lobster Ride and Roll a try this summer.
