Cows and bikes usually aren't invited to the same events, but you'll find both if you wander over to Payson Park in Portland from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The 2012 Community Tour started in Miami and has made its way up the East Coast, closely following the route of the East Coast Greenway, and finishing its two-month, 2,300-mile trek in Portland. Locally the event is being billed as Celebrate Portland Festival.
The event will focus on getting the entire family to get active with booths staffed by reps of Portland Trails, Maine Island Trails, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, Healthy Portland and more. They'll be hoping to find volunteers for their organizations and will also be putting on a bike rodeo for kids. (Helmets required to participate.)
When the youngsters get off their bikes, they'll find a calf to pet, courtesy of Maine dairy farmers, and can participate in a game of Musical Cows.
And everyone can welcome riders like Cathy and Myron Skott to Portland. The recumbent cyclers from Johns Creek, Ga., will have ridden the entire 2,300 miles from Florida to Maine.
