You may not be ready to compete in a 70.3-mile or Olympic distance triathlon this weekend but you can still get involved in the Revolution3 series that's making a stop in Old Orchard Beach.
The event is in need of volunteers, so if you have some free time on Sunday and you're interested in hanging with world-class and pro athletes click here and sign up to help out.
Pro triathletes will be competing for $25,000 in prize money and more than 1,200 age groupers are set to race as well.
The Olympic distance portion of the event combines .93-mile swim, 24.86-mile bike and 6.2-mile run legs. Distances for the Half Rev are 1.2, 56 and 13.1. Local group SheJams has also gotten into the act and will send 300 women to compete in the Olympic Rev.
Swimmers will tackle the Atlantic while bikers will get rolling hills, farmland and country roads through Saco, Dayton, Lyman, Waterboro, Hollis and Old Orchard Beach. The run course is an out-and-back on flat roads with views of Scarborough Marsh and the Eastern Trail.
Organizers welcome volunteers ages 12 and up (no triathlon knowledge necessary). Jobs to fill include info stations, aid stations, registration, course marshals, transition area help, set up, finish line and more.
