April 7-13 congressional race calendar

Here's this week's schedule of events:

Monday, April 7

7 p.m., Democrats Mark Lawrence, Chellie Pingree and Michael Brennan, Republican Dean Scontras, and other candidates are expected to attend a candidate forum hosted by the Maine Veterans Coordinating Committee, Augusta Armory, 179 Western Ave., Augusta.

Tuesday April 8

8:30 a.m., Democrat Mark Lawrence speaks to the Heart of Biddeford Donut Club, Reilly's Bakery, 232 Main St., Biddeford. The meeting will be followed by a tour of downtown businesses.

5:30 p.m., Democrat Ethan Strimling attends a campaign party at the Freeport Community Center, 53 Depot St., Freeport.

7 p.m., Republican Dean Scontras attends a meet and greet event hosted by the Saco-Old Orchard Beach Republican Committee, People's Choice Credit Union, 23 Industrial Park Road, Saco.

Thursday, April 10

5:30 p.m., Democrat Ethan Strimling attends a campaign house party at the home of Jerry & Emily Bley, 27 Giles Rd., Readfield.

6:30 p.m., Democrat Mark Lawrence attends a campaign house party at the home of Greg Brown, 9 Wood Island Lane, Georgetown. To RSVP, call 490-6275.

7 p.m., Democrat Chellie Pingree attends a campaign house party at the home of the Grabins, 137 Sea Rd., Kennebunk.

Friday, April 11

5:30 p.m., Democrat Ethan Strimling attends a campaign house party at the home of Brenda Edmands, 42 Westminster Ave., Portland.

6-7:30 p.m., Chellie Pingree attends a campaign house party at the home of Fred and Pat Palmer, 400 Pownal Rd., Freeport.

7 p.m., Republican Dean Scontras attends a meet and greet event in Bowdoin. For more information, call 432-2877.

Saturday, April 12

9 a.m., Democrat Adam Cote attends the Lakes Region Business Showcase, Lakes Region School, 204 Kansas Rd., Naples.

12:30 p.m., Democrats Mark Lawrence and Chellie Pingree attend a meet & greet event for 1st District candidates at the Bowdoinham Town Hall, 13 School St.

2 p.m., Democrat Adam Cote attends a campaign house party in Gardiner. For more information, call 347-3103.

3 p.m., Democrat Ethan Strimling attends a campaign house party at the home of Niki Norman, 158 Temple Avenue #A, Old Orchard Beach.

3 p.m., Democrat Mark Lawrence attends a campaign house party at the home of Bob Malbon, 40 Graham St., Biddeford. To RSVP, call 490-6275.

6 p.m., Mark Lawrence attends a campaign house party at the home of Anne Carney, 21 Angell Point Rd., Cape Elizabeth.

Sunday, April 13

Noon, Democrat Ethan Strimling attends a campaign house party at the home of Erica Vachon, 1206 Washington Ave., Portland.

Noon, Democrat Adam Cote attends a campaign house party in Cape Elizabeth hosted by Mary Ann Lynch, Anne Swift-Kayatta and others. For more information, call 207-347-3103.

2 p.m., Democrat Mark Lawrence attends a campaign house party at the home of Barry Abbott, 186 Oak Woods Rd., North Berwick. To RSVP, call 490-6275.

2:30 p.m., Democrat Chellie Pingree attends a campaign house party at the home of Sally and Sam Ballard, 497 North Road, Chebeague.

Kelley Bouchard has been a staff writer at the Portland Press Herald since 1998, covering a variety of municipal beats and statewide issues. A Lewiston native and University of Maine graduate, she previously worked in Massachusetts.

Justin Ellis has been a reporter with the Portland Press Herald since 2003. He has covered politics on every level and also writes a weekly column on culture and young people as well as the NXT blog. He is a graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism.

Matt Wickenheiser has been at the Press Herald for six years. Wickenheiser is a native of Madawaska and a 1994 graduate of the University of Maine. He thinks his first politcal memory is of waving to First Lady Rosalyn Carter.
