It's hard to know where to begin with Mark Zuckerberg. Everyone knows he's the mastermind behind Facebook and the archenemy of the Winklvii. He's a genius. He's an enigma. I think most of us would sleep with him if given the chance. Stop lying to yourself. I certainly would. As long as he was suddenly single and took off that filthy hoodie.
It's what you don't know about Mark Zuckerberg that might surprise you.
Thanks to a series of interviews and Zuckerberg's own new Facebook search tool called Graph Search, some very interesting facts about him have surfaced.
By now you're probably at least slightly familiar with Graph Search. It's that annoying new privacy invasion tool in the top left corner of your Facebook page. It surfs each user's profile for their "likes." It will then show them in relevant search results to your friends and friends of friends. So, now would be a good time to clean out your "like" pages if you don't want to start showing up all over Graph Search for "liking" Taylor Swift and thong underwear. That would just be embarrassing.
If you haven't figured it out yet, Mr. Zuckerberg is my latest target in Social Media: Just the Facts. This is an ongoing series of posts that will examine the facts around the different social networks and their related counterparts (apps, conferences, unstable celebrity users, etc.). I'll also take a look at the associated personalities including, of course, the Zuckerbergs, the Winklvii, Biz & Ev, Ms. Sandberg, and the bullies at Google. You get the picture.
Most important, I'd love to hear from you about any social media facts that you'd like to share or subject matter that you'd like to see covered. I'm also always open to feedback about how to make the series more informative and interesting. You can reach me on Twitter at @bobbbyg or you can post in the comments section here. Be nice. And, preferably deferential.
Are you ready? Here we go ... it's the Mark Zuckerberg edition!*
So, you can run but you cannot hide Princely. Now we've all got your number. And, I'm pretty sure Taylor Swift would give you hers. You can certainly have mine.
So, those are all the facts I have for today. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.
*Last but not least, I'd like to thank the smart people at CNN, the New Yorker, the Washington Post and Business Insider for helping me out with some of these facts.
Social media has changed the way that many of us learn, purchase, interact and explore the world around us. And, things are just getting started. Social, Social is a place to discuss social media with people from all walks of life. No experts allowed.
