Talking with a few Red Sox fans today and they're disgusted after Sunday night's loss to New York.
"They got no shot. Bring on football."
"They're done. Guarantee it."
Geez. Boston has 50 games left and is 4.5 games out of a wild card spot for the playoffs.
But it is a regional sport in New England to angst over the Sox and "guarantee" when they are out of it.
Wouldn't baseball fans rather enjoy the race?
The Sox are hardly out of it. If Jon Lester returns to form this afternoon, hope will be restored. But even if the Yankees win today, the Red Sox are still contenders.
Isn't it better to still have a contender to root for in August, than be a Kansas City Royals fan.
A couple minor league notes from Sunday: Yamaico Navarro went 2-for-3 in Pawtucket, with his first Triple-A home run ... Infielder Oscar Tejeda (.316) was 2-for-4 for Salem. Isn't it time to give him a few weeks of Double-A experience?
Shortstop Jose Iglesias continues to be the DH in Lowell. He went 1-for-3 Sunday and is batting .368 (7-for-19). Look for Iglesias to play the field soon for the Spinners, and then re-join the Sea Dogs.
