With 13 games to go, Red Sox fans still have reason (illogical as it is) to check the scoreboard.
Tonight's games: Orioles (Brian Matusz 8-12) at Boston (Daisuke Matsuzaka 9-5); Rays (Matt Garza 14-8) at Yankees (Ivan Nova 1-0)
In Matusz's last outing vs. the Red Sox, he allowed two earned runs over six innings. Meanwhile, Matsuzaka goes for his 10th win (which is a milestone, I guess, since we're lowered the expectations for the Dice).
AL East: New York 90-59; Tampa Bay 89-59 (.5 back); Boston 83-66 (7 back).
The desperate Red Sox are in need of some sweeps (in Boston and New York).
