The Boston Red Sox appear to be trading a trio of touted prospects for San Diego Padres (and former Sea Dogs) first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. According to the Boston Globe, Gonzalez is in Boston now to get a physical.
The Globe also reported that Gonzalez's agent is going to meet with the Red Sox about a contract extension, which would be a must if the Red Sox were going to trade away part of their future.
To get Gonzalez, Boston would send the Padres pitcher Casey Kelly, first baseman Anthony Rizzo and outfielder Reymond Fuentes. Kelly and Fuentes were first-round draft picks, and Rizzo is considered one of the best first-base prospects in baseball.
Stay tuned.
