While Ryan Kalish and Mark Rogers are the featured guests for the Portland Sea Dogs Hot Stove Dinner Jan. 21, the guest list continues to expand.
Third baseman Will Middlebrooks and catcher Tim Federowicz, two Red Sox prospects expected to be in Portland this season, will also be in attendance. They will join their past and future manager, Kevin Boles.
Boles, named the new Sea Dogs manager last month, managed the advanced Class A Salem team last year.
Middlebrooks, 22, batted .276 in Salem last year, with 12 home runs and 70 RBI. Federowicz, 23, batted .253 in Salem, with four home runs and 61 RBI.
The dinner is at the Marriott Hotel at Sable Oaks in South Portland, starting at 5:30 p.m. A silent auction will also take place. Tickets are $50 and proceeds benefit the Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program. Less than 100 tickets remain.
While we're plugging the Sea Dogs, let me add a note about one of my favorite programs - the Sea Dogs annual food drive. From now until Jan. 28, the Sea Dogs have a 2-for-1 ticket special with the donation of a food item, which will be donated to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
There is no limit. So if you bring in five food items and buy five tickets, you get five free tickets. A good deal and a good cause.
For more information on the Sea Dogs, see their website, www.seadogs.com.
