Pitcher Casey Kelly can now claim being the No, 1 prospect for two teams in the same off-season.
Kelly, the former Sea Dogs pitchers, was earlier named the Red Sox top prospect by Baseball America.
But since then, Kelly, first baseman Anthony Rizzo and outfielder Reymond Fuentes were traded to San Diego in exchange for Adrian Gonzalez.
Baseball America just came out with its top 10 San Diego Padres prospects - and there is Kelly at No. 1.
Rizzo is ranked No. 2 and Fuentes No. 4 (think the Padres needed some talent in its farm system?).
In other news, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is keeping the Pinstripes in the news with his comments. First he openly voiced his disagreement over signing reliever Rafael Soriano. Now Cashman is suggesting Derek Jeter play in the outfield. See the New York Daily News story.
