Greetings from the Tampa Airport. Finally heading home, in plenty of time for the Sea Dogs opener Thursday, and the Red Sox home opener on Friday.
The newspaper headline of the day: "Woe and three" (courtesy of the St. Petersburg Times).
The subject was the Tampa Bay Rays, now tied with those Red Sox at the BOTTOM of the AL East, with an 0-3 record.
Sox fans have been through such angst before. This is small potatoes.
I remember a time in 2007, when the Red Sox were one game away from elimination in the American League Championship Series.
But then Josh Beckett took the mound in Cleveland, and all was good.
And that brings us to Tuesday's game. There is Josh Beckett in Cleveland, with the Sox needing a win (maybe not as desperately as '07, but it would be nice).
And if Beckett shows a little of his vintage self - instead of the vulnerable Josh that often shows up these days - it certainly would be a good sign for Boston followers.
