Pitching prospect Stolmy Pimentel takes the mound tonight for the Sea Dogs, against New Britain. This will be the third start for Pimentel, 21, who was added to the Red Sox 40-man roster in the off-season.
Pimentel shined in his last start, in New Britain, retiring 15 of 18 batters. He allowed two hits and a walk, while striking out three.
Here is the Dogs lineup tonight: Che-Hsuan Lin CF; Alex Hassan LF; Tim Federowicz C; Ryan Lavarnway DH; Jorge Padron 1B; Will Middlebrooks 3B; Oscar Tejeda 2B; Chih-Hsien Chiang RF; Ryan Dent SS. (Stolmy Pimentel P).
Hassan is leading or among the Eastern League leaders in several categories - .455 average (1st); .537 on-base percentage (1st); 20 hits (2nd); and 11 RBI (4th).
Middlebrooks is 10th in batting (.326), fourth in slugging percentage (.609) and tied for third in extra base hits (8).
Federowicz is fifth in batting (.341).
Federowicz and Middlebrooks are in a huge tie for fifth in home runs (two).
One more note on the rotation. We noted previously that the Sea Dogs appear to be skipping Michael Lee's turn in the rotation. That was an error in the notes given to the media. Lee is scheduled to pitch Monday.
Pawtucket played another day game today, beating Rochester 3-1. Yamaico Navarro and Josh Reddick hit back-to-back home runs ... Felix Doubront started (3 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K); Kris Johnson got the win (3 IP, 4 H, R, 2 BB, 2 K) ... Michael Bowden picked up his third save (1 IP, H, K).
Still awaiting word on the status of Pawtucket outfielder Ryan Kalish and his injured shoulder.
