Reports out of Boston have shortstop Jose Iglesias in town and expected to be activated, pending an evaluation of shortstop Marco Scutaro, who apprears to have injured his ribs on Saturday.
While Yamaico Navarro may have been more ready - batting .328 in Pawtucket - Navarro just went on the DL with a strained oblique.
Iglesias is batting only .253 - he did go 3-for-4 on Saturday - but his glove is ready for the majors.
The Sea Dogs enjoyed a romp on Saturday. And while you're reading that game story, check out today's column, featuring new dad Will Vazquez.
Sox pitching prospect Wade Britton (7.04 ERA) has been struggling with Salem, but he threw a gem Saturday (6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K).
On a local note, South Portland's Charlie Furbush, who was hit hard in Pawtucket last Monday, pitched a one-hitter over 8 innings on Saturday for the Toledo Mud Hens (1 R, 2 BB, 8 K).
I'll check back from Hadlock.
