Another raw evening here at Hadlock Field. The always-optimistic Sea Dogs staff keeps telling me the sun is out. I finally clued in and looked at the video board, which features a picture of a smiling sun.
There is reason for hope for Portland (12-27), which is on a four-game losing streak. Stephen Fife, currently the ace of the staff, is on the mound. Fife (4-2, 2.57 ERA) has won his last two starts.
Now for the lineups tonight for the Red Sox and Sea Dogs:
BOSTON: Ellsbury, Pedroia, Gonzalez, Youkilis, Ortiz, Drew, Lowrie, Crawford, Saltalamacchia. (Buchholz P).
PORTLAND: Hazelbaker CF, Hassan LF, Chiang RF, Federowicz C, Middlebrooks 3B, Padron 1B, Tejeda 2B, Hee SS, Dening DH. (Fife P).
Ryan Lavarnway is a late scratch at DH because of some lower back stiffness.
