And it look like Ryan Lavarnway has found his stroke again, after a slow start He hit his ninth and 10th home runs on Saturday. See Today's Story.
Lavarnway played 44 games for Portland last year (.285 average, 8 home runs, 39 RBI, .888 OPS). Through 42 games this season, he's batting .263 with 19 homes runs, 27 RBI, .808 OPS.
In Triple-A, Kyle Weiland keeps striking out batters. He lasted five innings Saturday - 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB and 8 K. That's 57 strikeouts in 52 innings.
Salem's Reynaldo Rodriguez (.321) played the outfield again Saturday. He also his his 8th home run.
Salem is without recently-promoted Bryce Brentz, who went on the disabled list. He injured his wrist during batting practice a few days ago. No details yet, but wrist injuries are scary things. They have a history of lingering.
