According Salem Sox radio man Evan Lepler, right-handed starter Chris Balcom-Miller has been promoted from advanced Class A Salem to the Portland Sea Dogs.
The Sea Dogs have not announced the move, so it remains to be seen who leaves the roster to make room for Balcom-Miller. Thinking positively, maybe Alex Wilson will get promoted to Pawtucket after his start on Monday.
Wilson is 4-3 with a 2.85, with 44 strikeouts in 47 1/3 innings. He is coming up on his one-year anniversary of being promoted to the Sea Dogs.
Balcom-Miller, 22, was obtained by the Red Sox last August from Colorado in the Manny Delcarmen deal. (Delcarmen gave up 6 ER in 8 2/3 IP for the Rockies and was released).
Balcom-Miller is a fastball/slider/change-up guy who gets swings and misses. He has 37 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings with Salem. In seven starts, he went 3-1, with a 2.34 ERA.
In other Red Sox news, Michael Bowden was promoted to Boston, and newly-acquired reliever Frank Morales put on the disabled list.
