Sea Dogs third baseman Will Middlebrooks is out of the lineup today, but he won't be out for long. That's the good news.
Middlebrooks left Sunday's game after taking a bad bounce off his right middle finger. Middlebrooks said the finger jammed when it was struck and he could not move it. Tests revealed no breaks. and Middlebrooks said he should not miss more than a few days.
Right-handed pitcher Chris Balcom-Miller worked out with the team before the game and will likely be activated by Tuesday, when the Sea Dogs have a doubleheader in New Britain.
Balcom-Miller's last start for Salem was on May 26, so he would be ready to go. To make room on the Sea Dogs roster, someone will likely be temporarily deactivated.
The Sea Dogs' lineup today: Hazelbaker CF, Hee 3B, Chiang RF, Lavarnway C, Federowicz DH, Padron 1B, Tejeda 2B, Dening LF, Frias SS. (Wilson P).
Wilson (4-3, 2.85 ERA) is making his 10th start this year, his 26th in his Sea Dogs career. It will be interesting to see how long he stays in Double-A.
In Pawtucket, Felix Doubront returns to the rotation after coming off the disabled list ... on Sunday, Andrew Miller put in his finest outing for the PawSox: 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K.
