Ryan Lavarnway and Will Middlebrooks are two of the best hitters that have put on a Sea Dogs uniform in recent years.
Lavarnway is now in Pawtucket, with a lofty 1.030 OPS in 21 games. He had two doubles on Tuesday, and is now batting .338, with a .418 on base percentage.
Middlebrooks had himself a day at the ballpark in Binghamton. Playing a doubleheader, Middlebrooks was a combined 7-for-9 while hitting hit 9th home run. He's batting .320.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Stephen Fife (10-3, 3.57) struck out 9 in 6 innings.
One other pitching performance of note: Chris Hernandez for Salem: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 K. His ERA is now 3.01.
