The Boston Red Sox assigned free agent knuckleball pitcher Charlie Haeger and assigned him to Portland (though is currently on the temporary inactive list).
Haeger, 27, has 34 games of major league experience, from 2006 to 2010, with the White Sox, Padres and Dodgers. He was in Triple-A, in the Seattle organization this season, going 0-4 with an 8.40 ERA in nine games (six starts).
Meanwhile, at Fenway Park, the Red Sox are going for a sweep against Seattle, with Tim Wakefield on the mound.
Boston's lineup: Ellsbury CF, Pedroia 2B, Gonzalez 1B, Youkilis 3B, Ortiz , Crawford LF, Reddick RF, Saltalamacchia C, Scutaro SS.
I will be tweeting during the game (@ClearTheBases), but I'm also focused on another game, involving the Standish 9-under All-Stars in the Cal Ripken state title game. (I know the starting first baseman rather well). So while I'm tweeting, I'm also checking my phone for updates.
