Left-hander Erik Bedard is the latest name to surface as a possible target for the Red Sox, in their search for a complete starting rotation. He is 4-6 with a 3.00 ERA in 15 starts with Seattle.
After Boston's loss on Thursday, the Red Sox are 2.5 games ahead of the Yankees, as Boston heads to Chicago (Wakefield tonight).

Pawtucket won 2-1 at Lehigh Valley. Lars Anderson doubled in the eighth inning and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
Anderson (.259) was 2-for-3. He is batting .292 in July, with six home runs and a .925 OPS.
Matt Fox (4.82) started for the PawSox and was effectively wild: (6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 5 BB, 4 K) ... Michael Bowden (2.66) got his 13th save (1 IP, 1 K) ... Old friend Brandon Moss hit his 19th home run for the Iron Pigs.

Greenville's Brandon Jacobs (.323) had two doubles, while Felix Sanchez (.248) stole three bases, giving him 40 for the season.
