The Boston Red Sox announced the non-roster players invited to their major league spring training camp.
Besides players on the 40-man roster, teams routinely invite extra players, either to give them a chance to compete for a job, or give them a taste of the camp for the future development.
Here are the players who will be in Fort Myers by next week:
40-MAN ROSTER
Pitchers - Alfredo Aceves, Matt Albers, Andrew Bailey, Daniel Bard Josh Beckett, Michael Bowden, Drake Britton, Clay Buchholz, Felix Doubront, Bobby Jenks, John Lackey, Jon Lester, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Mark Melancon, Andrew Miller, Franklin Morales, Clayton Mortensen, Stolmy Pimentel, Junichi Tazawa.
Catchers - Luis Exposito, Ryan Lavarnway, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Kelly Shoppach.
Infielders - Lars Anderson, Mike Aviles, Adrian Gonzalez, Jose Iglesias, Will Middlebrook, Dustin Pedroia, Nick Punto, Oscar Tejeda, Kevin Youkilis.
Outfielders - Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury, Ryan Kalish, Che-Hsuan Lin, Darnell McDonald, Cody Ross, Ryan Sweeney.
Designated hitter - David Ortiz.
