The Portland Sea Dogs finalized their today today before their season-opener, with a surprise addition.
Outfielder Juan Carlos Linares, who played for Pawtucket during spring training, was assigned to Portland. Linares, 27, is coming back from a broken leg suffered early last season in Pawtucket.
Linares, an international free agent from Cuba, played 13 games for the Sea Dogs in 2010.
The addition of Linares put the Portland roster at 27, two over the limit. To get to 25, catcher Jayson Hernandez and outfielder Ron Bermudez were placed on the disabled list.
Also pitcher Stolmy Pimentel was officially added to the roster, but remains on the disabled list.
