Jose Iglesias needs to improve his hitting to reach the majors this year. He may be getting there. In the last 15 games, he is batting .433 (26-of-60) to up his average to .283. He went 4-for-6 on Friday. Strangely though, he committed two errors.
Kevin Youkilis played for Pawtucket, going 1-for-3 with 2 strikeouts. He reportedly played well at third base ... Junichi Tazawa pitched 1 2/3 innings - 4 H, 4 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 2 K.
The Sea Dogs won 4-0 Friday on a trio of fine pitching performances. Starter Billy Buckner: 6 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 K; Aaron Kurcz: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K; Josh Fields: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K.

Lefty Drake Britton, 22, pitched five stellar innings for Salem, but did not get out of the sixth. Through five, Britton's line was: 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K. He pitched 2/3 of the sixth inning: 3 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 1 K.
Lefty Henry Owens, 19, pitched 5 innings for Greenville: 7 H, 4 R (2 ER), 1 BB, 5 K ... Outfielder Keury De La Cruz, 20, went 3-for-5 to up his average to .329.
