Hot one here at Fenway Park for the rubber game of the Red Sox-Braves series.
Aaron Cook is pitching in place of Clay Buchholz, whose scratch was announced Saturday because of illness. Apparently, Buchholz is very ill and is in the hospital with what manager Bobby Valentine called a "gastro-intestinal situation.
The only interesting note about the lineup is the return of Kevin Youkilis to third base (batting sixth). The hot Will Middlebrooks is still there, at DH while David Ortiz gets a day off.
With lefty Mike Minor pitching for Atlanta, Darnell McDonald gets the start in center. Left-handed hitter Ryan Kalish gets the day off.
Looking forward to the game and Sea Dogs' PA announcer Dean Rogers taking over the microphone at Fenway.
The Red Sox lineup:
Nave LF, Pedroia 2B, Middlebrooks DH, Ross RF, Gonzalez 1B, Youkilis 3B, Aviles SS, McDonald CF, Shoppach C.
And, courtesy of Sea Dogs radio man Mike Antonellis, here is the Portland lineup today, for the Dogs' game in Trenton:
Bradley CF, Hazelbaker DH, Smith 3B, Brentz RF, Butler C, Spring 1B, Gibson SS, Dent 2B, Hissey LF (Hernandez P).
Check out Antonellis' blog for the latest on new pitcher Jason Urquidez, signed out of the independent leagues.
