In the minors, Pawtucket outfielder Juan Carlos Linares (.333) went 3-for-4 ... Reliever Alex Wilson allowed 1 hit and 1 walk over 2 innings, lowering his ERA to 3.30 (and 1.98 in July).
Kolbrin Vitek just came off a lengthy stay on the disabled list. The former first-round draft pick is back at third base for Portland. Vitek (.258) had two doubles on Wednesday ... reliever Michael Olmsted made his Double-A debut (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K).
Salem remains the teams with several prospects. Michael Almanzar, 21, went 3-for-4, his on-base string ending at 16 plate appearances. Almanzar is batting .316 with a .369 on-base percentage/.481 slugging percentage and .849 OPS.
Xander Bogaerts, 19, hit his 14th HR this year. He's batting .284, .358/.478/.836.
Keith Couch, 22, pitched a rare complete game in Class A, going 9 innings (10 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K).
Greenville third baseman Garin Cecchini (.304) went 3-for-4.
The Sea Dogs are in Binghamton the next four days.
