After four straight losses (three to the Twins), it may look like I'm giving up on the Red Sox. Actually I'm just going on vacation.
It just appears to be well-timed.
Those staying at the house have promised to save every paper, so I can go over the details when I get back (I could check the web, but going over old papers is an ingrained post-vacation tradition).
For the Red Sox, it does look bleak.
Here are the standings after the results of Saturday, Aug. 4.
AL EAST
Yankees 62-44
Orioles 56-51 (6.5 back)
Rays 56-51 (6.5)
Red Sox 53-55 (10)
Blue Jays 52-55 (10.5)
WILD CARD
A’s 58-49
Angels 58-50
Tigers 57-50 (0.5 back)
Orioles 56-51 (1.5)
Rays 56-51 (1.5)
Red Sox 53-55 (5)
Blue Jays 52-55 (5.5)
Seattle 51-58 (7.5)
Indians 50-57 (7.5)
Maybe Boston will go on that run Bobby Valentine keeps talking about.
The Sea Dogs are playing well. They are home today, before they go on a lengthy road trip (thus a good time for me to go on one, too).
Enjoy
