Drake Britton goes for the Sea Dogs tonight in their final road game, 6:30 p.m. in Manchester. It has been a solid year for Britton (3.66), who is likely making his final Double-A start.
Zach Stewart had a forgettable debut with the Red Sox Wednesday night: 3 IP, 10 H, 9 R, 0 BB, 2 K. He is expected to be sent down today, to make room for Daniel Bard.
Pawtucket's pitchers fared a little better. Knuckleball pitcher Steven Wright (3.86) went 5 innings: 7 H, 4 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 5 K ... Josh Fields (0.00) went 2 IP: 2 H, 2 K ... Rich Hill (1.13) continued his rehab: 1 IP, 1BB, 2 K ... and Alex Wilson (3.39) finished things: 1 IP, 2 H, 2K.
Hill is expected back on the 40-man roster next month. The other three could join him next year.
Brandon Workman has been stellar in his initial games with the Sea Dogs. he finally had a tough one: 2 IP, 8 H, 6 R (5 ER), 2 BB, 2 K. ERA is still only 3.60.
