The Red Sox roster looks unofficially complete with reports that the Red Sox will not be adding Ryan Sweeney to the team. The news should mean that Jackie Bradley Jr. will stay in the majors, although Boston needs to make room for him on the 40-man roster (i.e. someone has to be taken off ... Mauro Gomez?).
See the likely 25-man major league roster below.
The other news out of the Red Sox camp was reliever Daniel Bard being sent down, but not to Pawtucket. He will be in Portland, working on his command. Once he demonstrates consistency, Bard should be moving along.
It is similar to when Bard first came to Portland in 2008. He was just starting to get his command back, and he used Portland as a springboard to the majors.
Another pitcher who is in the rebuilding process is Anthony Ranaudo, once the No. 1 Red Sox pitching prospect. He’s rebounding from an injury-riddled 2012. See the Story.
