The buzz around Hadlock today is the performance of pitcher Matt Barnes Monday night. Sure, he lasted only one inning because of an excessive pitch count. But one word kept coming up today:
Barnes has it. Should be fun to watch as the season goes on. (His next start is Saturday in New Britain).
Another pitching prospect, looking to rebound from a dismal 2012, is Anthony Ranaudo. he goes tonight at 6 p.m. For more on him, see our story out of spring training.
Before we get to the Dogs lineup, there is a David Ortiz update. According to Peter Abraham of the Globe, Ortiz went 2-for-5, with two singles, in an extended spring training game in Fort Myers Tuesday. He could be playing for Pawtucket by Thursday.
According to Evan Drellich of MassLive.com, Ortiz has some financial incentives to get back to Boston soon.
Now for the Dogs lineup tonight (Stephen Drew is gone. Xander Bogaerts finally gets to play shortstop):
Shannon Wilkerson CF
Xander Bogaerts SS
Travis Shaw DH
Tony Thomas LF
Michael Almanzar 1B
Kolbrin Vitek 3B
Christian Vazquez C

(Anthony Ranaudo P)
