The John Lackey comeback tour continued Tuesday in another Red Sox win: 8 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K ... his team-best ERA among starters is now 2.81.
Rubby De La Rosa (2.47) had been rolling along in Pawtucket (21 straight scoreless innings), but he left after three innings (73 pitches) on Tuesday: 5 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 5 K.
Jackie Bradley Jr. (.300) hit two home runs (5th & 6th) ... Bryce Brentz (.270) hit his 16th ... Xander Bogaerts (.245) was 1-for-3 with a walk (.342 OBP) ... In Bogaerts' first nine games in Triple-A, he batted .176 (6-for-34). In his last nine, he's batting .333 (11-for-33).
Keith Couch pitched all seven innings of the first game of the Sea Dogs doubleheader sweep: 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 8 K. Couch (3.84) has a 2.13 ERA as a starter. See today's story. ... Will Latimer (2.30) got the second-game win with an inning of scoreless relief.
Travis Shaw (.240/.367 OBP/9 HR) continues to rebound from his slow start. He hit two home runs in the second game, including a walk-off in the eighth inning ... In his last 17 games, Shaw is batting .344 (21-for-61) with six home runs.
