Hard to believe, but the New York Yankees have yet to set foot in Fenway Park this season.

That changes tonight when New York and Boston begin a three-game series.

Battle of lefties tonight, the veteran Andy Pettitte (7-6, 4.39) vs. the kid Felix Doubront (6-3, 3.91). In his last five starts, Doubront has allowed 7 ER over 34 innings.

The other pitching match-ups - Saturday: Hiroki Kuroda (8-6, 2.65) vs. John Lackey (7-6, 2.78). Sunday: C.C. Sabathia (9-8, 4.07) vs. Jon Lester (8-6, 4.58)

The standings:

AL EAST
Red Sox 58-39
Rays 55-41 (2.5 games back)
Orioles 53-43 (4.5)
Yankees 51-44 (6)
Jays 45-49 (11.5)

Pawtucket won Thursday, although starter Steven Wright went only three innings (3 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 2 K). Wright is coming off his 5 1/3 scoreless innings with Boston in a win at Seattle.

Brock Huntzinger (2-0, 2.29) continued to impress since returning to Triple-A. He followed Wright with three scoreless innings: 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K. Huntzinger will be a minor league free agent at the end of the year, so he appears headed for the 40-man roster, unless he's traded ... Chris Martin (2.93) picked up his second save with 2 1/3 innings of one-hit ball (1 K).

Xander Bogaerts (.262) was 1-for-3 with a double and walk. His OPS is now .825 (.358 OBP, .467 slugging).

Stephen Drew went 1-for-4 in his rehab appearance in Portland. More importantly, Drew said he felt fine. He goes from DH Thursday to SS today. Drew said the frustrating part of his injury was that he felt he was coming around.

Drew batted .154 in April, .244 in May and .267 in June, including .324 in his last 10 games.

See more on Drew in today's notebook. In it, we also point out that the Sea Dogs need pitching help for a doubleheader on Monday. Just so happens that Henry Owens' next scheduled start would be Monday. Imagine that?
