The Boston Red Sox released an "encouraging report" on outfield prospect Ryan Westmoreland who underwent brain surgery earlier this week. He has been moved out of intensive care and will begin soon begin physical and occupational therapy.
"Ryan is right on track and we expect progressive improvement," said Dr. Robert Spetzler, Westmoreland's neurosurgeon.
The surgery removed a "cavernous malformation," which has been described as a "cluster of abnormal, dialated (blood) vessels."
