Happy Maple Sunday.
Got concerned when I heard Jeremy Hermida was taken out of Saturday's game. But the Sox are reporting that it is only a "tweaked" right hamstring. Today's On Baseball column features Hermida.
Because of Hermida's hamstring, Josh Reddick will likely stay with the team through next Saturday.
Actually a lot of the Triple-A players are hanging around and will play in Saturday's exhibition in Washington D.C. That makes minor league spring training look odd with several players on teams they will not stay with. Once the rest of the Triple-A guys come back to the minors, it will have a trickle down effect.
Certainly, a couple of relievers will be headed to the minors. Veteran Alan Embree made his first spring training appearance and allowed 2 hits and 3 runs over 2/3 of an inning. He obviously needs more time ... but that may not be enough.
Joe Nelson relieved Embree and did not help his chances (1/3 of an inning, 2 hits, 1 run).
Thanks for checking in. Now go enjoy some maple syrup over ice cream.
