Okay, so I beat the traffic for an 8 p.m. game. Actually the press gate opens in a couple of hours, so it's time for a little Easter lunch (and a Happy Easter by the way).
Glorious day. No traffic on Storrow Drive and the sailboats on the Charles were a nice touch.
I remember last year's Opener. Shortstop Jed Lowrie was excited to get the start (and now the guy has mono). Jason Bay talked about liking to play in Fenway (now he's a Met). Mike Lowell talked about recovering from hip surgery (and his range hasn't been the same, which is why he's the back-up first baseman).
A few questions come to mind about tonight:
Will the Yankees run on Victor Martinez? With all the talk of run prevention, stolen bases still could be a problem for the Red Sox.
Will the middle relief hold up? Some are speculating that Manny Delcarmen must be hurt because his velocity is down and his mechanics seem out of whack.
Will Ortiz look back to form, or be over-matched?
Plenty of stories in today's Sunday Telegram. And if you're looking for Saturday's story about the Sea Dogs roster, just call up Saturday's headlines.
I'll check in later from the pahhk.Tweet
