Welcome to 1 BE (1 day before Ellsbury).
While the Sea Dogs are off today, the .500 Red Sox are in the Bronx for the first time this year. After losses by Lester and Lackey, Boston is counting on Matsuzaka (how strange does that sound?).
In Pawtucket, underdog outfielder Daniel Nava went 2-for-4 to up his average to .320 ... Bubba Bell (.261) also had 2 hits ... Jorge Jimenez (.279) looks like he is past his early struggles with a 4-for-4 game ... Adam Mills started for the PawSox (5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3 K).
Salem has plenty of solid performers. Third baseman Will Middlebrooks (.352) went 2-for-5 ... second baseman Oscar Tejeda (.340) and catcher/DH Ryan Lavarnway (.336) saw their averages drop after one hit apiece ... catcher Tim Federowicz (.273) is getting hotter with two hits ... reliever Kyle Fernandes (1.91 ERA) was one of those figured to start the year in Portland, continues to do well (1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 1 K).
Greenville outfielder Reymond Fuentes, 19, the first-round draft pick from last year, went 4-for-5 and is batting .287.
