Mike Cameron struck out in his first at-bat, watching a full-count curve break over the plate.
Sea Dogs starter Casey Kelly gave up two runs in the first, on a walk, a double off the left field wall, and a single off the right field wall.
The Dogs loaded the bases in the bottom of the first but Anthony Rizzo grounded into a double play. Portland trails 2-0.
